PLAYERS, PARENTS & COACHES
CODE OF CONDUCT
Players code of conduct
Learn and play by the rules.
Never argue with an umpire.
Control your temper.
Work equally hard for yourself and for your team.
Be a good sport.
Treat all players as you would like to be treated.
Co-operate with your coach, teammates and opponents.
Respect your coach’s decisions, they are making decisions for the whole team, not just for you.
Listen to your coach and the umpire and thank both of them, and the opposing team, after your game.
Parents & Spectators Code of Conduct
Remember that children play sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
Only the coach is allowed to give the players instructions during a game.
Focus on the child’s efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
Encourage children to always participate according to the rules.
Parents and Spectators are not to stand behind the baseline while a game is in play.
Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game.
Remember that children learn best by example, applaud good play by all teams.
Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
Respect umpire decisions and teach children to do likewise.
A valid disagreement can be resolved through the correct channels, not at the game.
Show appreciation of coaches, officials, administrators and umpires. Without them, there would be no netball
Coaches Code of Conduct
Remember that children participate for pleasure, and that winning is only part of the fun.
Ensure your team plays by the rules.
Do not interfere with the progress of a game; ensure there is space for the umpire to move along the sideline.
Respect umpires decisions (even if you do not agree), and reflect this in your conversations with your team.
Refrain from arguing with an umpire/official. If you disagree, write on the back of the scorecard in a constructive manner.
Be reasonable in your demands on young players’ time, energy and enthusiasm.
Avoid overplaying the talented players. The just-average need and deserve equal time.
Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of the players.
Develop team respect for the ability of opponents and for the judgement of officials and opposing coaches.
