Rose Bay Magic is committed to supporting a safe, respectful and child-safe sport environment.

This page explains the approach Rose Bay Magic uses, or may use, when operating club activities, coaching programs or a coaching network that connects coaches with clubs, schools, teams, parents, players or organisations.

For this page, “Rose Bay Magic”, “RBM”, “we”, “us” and “our” means Rose Bay Magic Netball Club and its authorised administrators, coaches and volunteers.

1. Child safety commitment

Rose Bay Magic aims to support junior sport in a way that places the safety, wellbeing and dignity of children and young people first.

We expect coaches, administrators, volunteers, parents, players, clubs, schools and organisations using this website or engaging through Rose Bay Magic to act appropriately, respectfully and lawfully.

2. Working With Children Check

Where a person is involved in paid or volunteer child-related work, a current Working With Children Check may be required.

Rose Bay Magic may request Working With Children Check details from coaches, volunteers or other relevant participants before allowing them to coach, be listed, be referred or be recommended.

Where Rose Bay Magic directly engages a person for child-related work, we may verify the Working With Children Check through the appropriate NSW process and keep relevant records.

3. Coach verification

Rose Bay Magic may request or review information from coaches, including:

  • full name;
  • contact details;
  • suburb or coaching location;
  • Working With Children Check details;
  • coaching qualifications;
  • sport-specific experience;
  • insurance status;
  • references;
  • age groups coached;
  • session types offered;
  • rates and availability;
  • club, school or coaching history.

Rose Bay Magic may choose not to list, refer or recommend a coach if information is incomplete, inconsistent, unsuitable, unable to be checked or raises a safety or conduct concern.

4. Verification is not a guarantee

Coach listings, profiles, badges, recommendations or referrals on this website do not guarantee that a coach is suitable for every player, school, club, team or situation.

A coach profile or verification note does not remove the responsibility of parents, clubs, schools or organisations to make their own enquiries before engaging a coach.

Before engaging a coach, clubs, schools, parents or organisations should consider checking:

  • Working With Children Check status;
  • identity;
  • references;
  • insurance;
  • qualifications;
  • coaching experience;
  • suitability for the relevant age group;
  • supervision arrangements;
  • venue safety;
  • fees, cancellation terms and expectations.

5. Responsibilities of coaches

Coaches using or applying to be listed through Rose Bay Magic must provide accurate, current and truthful information.

Coaches must not misrepresent their qualifications, experience, Working With Children Check status, insurance, rates, availability or coaching background.

Coaches are responsible for complying with all relevant laws, child safety requirements, sport rules, venue rules, club or school requirements and professional conduct expectations.

6. Responsibilities of clubs, schools and parents

Clubs, schools, parents and organisations remain responsible for deciding whether a coach is suitable for their needs.

They should complete their own checks before engaging a coach, including any legal, insurance, venue, supervision, child-safety and procurement requirements that apply to them.

A listing or introduction by Rose Bay Magic should be treated as a connection service, not as a substitute for proper recruitment, screening or risk assessment.

7. Conduct expectations

Rose Bay Magic expects coaches and adults involved in junior sport to:

  • act respectfully and professionally;
  • maintain appropriate boundaries with children and young people;
  • communicate appropriately with parents, players, clubs and schools;
  • avoid bullying, harassment, discrimination or abusive behaviour;
  • avoid private or inappropriate communication with children;
  • follow venue, club, school and sport rules;
  • raise safety concerns promptly;
  • prioritise player wellbeing over performance outcomes.

8. Refusal, suspension or removal

Rose Bay Magic may refuse, suspend or remove a coach listing, enquiry, profile, referral or access to the website where we consider there may be:

  • incomplete or misleading information;
  • child safety concerns;
  • conduct concerns;
  • unsuitable communication;
  • complaints;
  • insurance or verification concerns;
  • legal or regulatory concerns;
  • reputational risk to Rose Bay Magic or junior sport.

We are not required to list or refer every coach who applies.

9. Reporting concerns

If you have a concern about child safety, coach conduct, inappropriate behaviour, misleading coach information or misuse of this website, please contact Rose Bay Magic.

Email: hello@rosebaymagic.com

If a child is in immediate danger, contact emergency services.

If a concern relates to child safety, abuse, risk of harm or legal obligations, it may also need to be reported to the relevant authority.

10. Changes to this page

Rose Bay Magic may update this Child Safe & Coach Verification page from time to time.

The latest version will be published on this website with the updated date shown at the top.
